USA Track & Field New England in cooperation with Boston Parks &
Recreation Department. New England is one of UASTF's largest associations and
has a long tradition of hosting national and international caliber competition.
Franklin Park Boston, Massachusetts:
Franklin Park is located five miles southwest of downtown Boston. The course is
99% grass/dirt, a mix of field and wide paths with rolling and hilly sections.
The multiple loop courses are very spectator friendly.
SCHEDULE:
Friday, November 24: Registration, Course Tours, Technical Meeting (7 p.m.).
Saturday, November 25: (Times are Tentative)
10:00 am Youth Run
10:30 am Masters 10K (Men and Women)
11:45 am Woman's 6K Championship
12:00 am Men's 10K Championship
ENTRY DEADLINES:
Entry fee is $20 if on-time, $30 late entry. No additional team fees.
"On time" - November 18, 2000
Late entry - individual only - November 24, 2000
Team entry deadline - November 21, 2000.
Team Declaration deadline - Friday, November 24, 7 p.m.
SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP ELIGIBILITY:
Participation is limited to US Citizens only.
All participants must have current USATF membership
Team scoring is limited to USATF Association Clubs
Team scoring is by points
Team prize money to top 4 teams. Individual money to top 3 finishers.
MASTERS 10K CHAMPIONSHIPS ELIGIBILITY
Open to runners age 40 and over
One race combined men and women
Individual awards in 5 year age groups
Team scoring by time, 40+, 50+, 60+, 70+
Individual awards and team scorers are limited to US Citizens (new rule as of
1/1/2000)
All participants must have current USATF membership
Non-citizen resident aliens ("green card" holders) may compete, but do not score.
XC HISTORY AT FRANKLIN PARK:
Franklin Park had been the host site of the 1917, 1950, 1984, 1991, and 1995
National Cross Country Championships, the 1997 NCAA Division III Nationals, and
the 1992 IAAF World Champioships.
MEET HOTEL:
The meet hotel is the Doubletree Club - Boston Bayside, about 3 miles from the
course. They are offering a rate of $89 (double) for the meet - a rate which you
will be hard-pressed to beat in the Boston area. Call 1-617-822-3600 and ask for
the USATF Cross Country National Championship rate when making reservations.
