This is your opportunity for the road racing and track & field community to have input on programs and policies of the association. All member clubs and individuals are encouraged to send representatives to this important meeting, provide input, and vote, so USATF-NE will best serve the needs of this broad spectrum of members. Our goal is to conduct activities that benefit the needs and desires of our membership of 3000+ individuals and 100 clubs and can only do that with your input.

SPORTS COMMITTEE CHAIRS - ONE YEAR TERMS

RESPONSIBILITIES OF CHAIRS

  1. Arrange for the conduct of championships and maintain historical records.
  2. Compile and make available schedules of events with attention paid to conflicts between events.
  3. Help promote events within the sport and attend championships.
  4. Serve as the first mediator in disputes among athletes, coaches, and event directors related to the sport.
  5. Work to establish development programs and clinics which will increase participation and quality of the sport.
  6. Work with the USATF-NE office in securing sponsorship for and conducting of special, regional, and national events as appropriate.
  7. Serve as the contact person & information source from within the associatin for national and special events.
  8. Serve as a member of the USATF-NE Board of Governors.

ATHLETE REPRESENTATIVES
Vote for two (2). Incumbent: Tom Petranoff (Joanna Veltri chooses not to run as incumbent)

Athlete's Representative Responsibilities - Active competitive athletes to serve as a liasion between athletes, events, & association; attend championships, implement development projects, serve as active board member.

VOTING IS BASED ON THE NUMBER OF USATF MEMBERS IN A CLUB. UNATTACHED ATHLETES - 3 VOTES TOTAL.

Clubs receive votes based on the number of their members holding USATF membership; the higher of the final 1998 total, or the totals on 6/30/99

100-199 members 4 votes
200+ members 5 votes

*members include athletes and certified officials

UNATTACHED ATHLETES have votes based on a ratio of 1 vote per 1000 unattached athletes. This is 3 votes in 1999. Votes are split among the unattached athletes at the meeting.

Looking Ahead

17TH ANNUAL GRAND PRIX SELECTION MEETING
Monday, November 8, 1999, 7PM, Site TBA At the 1998 meeting, over 70 individuals and 25 clubs voted for events bidding to host USATF-NE LDR Championships. Bids will be sent to prospective races in September and are due back to the office no later than November 1. If you wish to receive a bid package, call (617) 566-7600.
