This meet is for youth athletes living in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont (ME and CT have their own meets)

This meet qualifies runners for the Region I Championship at Van Cortland Park in New York City on November 21. The Regional meet is the qualifer for the 1999 USATF National Championship, December 11, Spartenburg, South Carolina.

*** The oldest two girls age groups will run together if the number of competitors is small. This has happened the past three years.

Day of race entry starts at 8:00 AM

ATHLETES/COACHES

USATF Member clubs may request team entry forms. The athlete (if 18 years old), parent/guardian or coach must sign the waiver/assumption of risk section of the entry form. All unsigned entry forms will be rejected.

TEAM SCORING POLICY:

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT

Only current member USA Track & Field-New England clubs are allowed to score and advance as teams. Any club that has let its membership lapse, or any organization which has never been a member, must file all appropriate paperwork and fees prior to race day. All applications and fees must be received in the New England Office (617) 566-7600 by Friday, November 12th.

A SCORING TEAM CONSISTS OF FIVE (5) TO EIGHT (8) ATHLETES IN THE SAME AGE CATAGORY. IF A CLUB HAS MORE THAN 8 ATHLETES IN ANY AGE GROUP, THE COACH MUST DECLARE THE 8 SCORING MEMBERS AT THE REGISTRATION AREA BEFORE THE RACE.

WAIVERS TO REGION I MEET

Only athletes who have been in high school or collegiate championships on November 13 can obtain a waiver to compete at the Region I Championship meet. The request must be made in writing prior to November 14, and the Region I entry must be complete and paid for prior to November 14 as well.

REGION I MEET ENTRY

The Top 3 Teams and Other Individuals In The Top 25 in each age division qualify to advance to the Region I meet at Van Cortland Park in New York City on Sunday, November 21.

NOTE: No displacement. If a team in the top 3 or individual in the top 25 does not choose to advance to the Nationals, others MAY NOT advance. All registration for the USATF Region I Junior Olympic Championships MUST be done at Bryant College on Sunday, November 15th.

THIS MEANS . . .

  1. YOU MUST HAVE A VALID USATF MEMBERSHIP CARD. Cards can be purchased at Bryant College on the day of the New England meet at a cost of $10. The membership cards will be valid for all 2000 USATF track & field, cross country, road racing events as well.
  2. YOU MUST HAVE A PROOF OF AGE. Bring a copy of one of these valid documents: birth certificates, certified baptismal record, driver's license, passports, US military ID cards. A copier will be available at Bryant College if needed. The copy is not returned!
  3. YOU MUST FILL OUT THE REGIONAL APPLICATION FORM AND PAY THE ENTRY FEE $6.00 per individual on November 14th before you leave Bryant.

PLEASE NOTE: As of 1/1/2000, both the JO Track and JO XC meets will require USATF membership to participate in the meets. Consider signing up your full club early in the year so we can continue to bring you quality programs!
